PÚBLICAS NIÑAS 8M

PÚBLICAS NIÑAS 8M focuses on making girls’ perspectives heard: it proposes listening to them in order to reveal how social rules—often unwritten—shape their relationships, bodies, and possibilities. In their case, gender-based discrimination is intertwined with age-related discrimination: there are few spaces in which girls have decision-making power; this project, by contrast, restores their agency and their ability to decide. Through a participatory process, the project seeks to transform these invisible, asymmetrical norms into explicit agreements created by the girls themselves.

In collaboration with the Complejo Cultural Los Pinos, within the framework of International Women’s Day, the project was developed with the participation of girls visiting the venue. Through processes of reflection and dialogue, accompanied by the Public Engagement and Educational Services teams, the participants formulated their own rules for more equitable coexistence in their relationships and spaces.

PÚBLICAS NIÑAS 8M thus presents new, egalitarian, and explicit social contracts, created by girls who visited the Complejo Cultural Los Pinos during February 2026. The resulting rules are displayed in Cabaña 1, as well as in different areas of the complex.

By placing girls’ voices at the center of the process, the project opens up a space to imagine other ways of seeing the world—a world created by and for girls.
