LA BELLEZA ESTÁ EN LA CALLE
The project was the result of a year-long investigation about the conformation of public space in Mexico City, that involved conversations and interviews with government and private sectors—from legislators affiliated to different political parties to urban planners and members of the Asociación Mexicana de Publicidad Exterior (Mexican Association for Outdoor Advertising)—, the organization of the público® (public®) symposium at the Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, and our collaboration drafting the Ley de Publicidad Exterior (Outdoor Advertising Law) for the city.
La belleza está en la calle (Beauty Is in the Street) was materialized in four billboards that interrogated the existence of public space as a democratic site where we all can be included through questions and statements.
