MAPA DE RECUPERACIÓN

The Mapa de recuperación (Recovery Map) performance consisted of healing my body—metaphorically operating as the collective body of Mexican women violence survivors—in cities outside of Mexico. The premise was to use traditional local healing practices to treat manifestations of gender violence culturally specific to another country. Although the work was focused on the possibility of a collective healing, it also addressed the problems inherent to the very idea of translation: not only from one language to another, but also of violence against women from one environment to another, from one culture to another.
